Travel Grants

Graduate students: Apply now for a $500 travel grant from the OAH and Immigration and Ethnic History Society to help offset the cost of traveling to the OAH Annual Meeting.

Trouble downloading PDFs?

1. Make sure Adobe Reader/Acrobat are up-to-date.
2. There are very well known issue(s) with the Adobe PDF browser plugin, including downloading large-ish files (>3MB).
3. Workarounds include going into Acrobat’s preferences and:
     - under Internet, UNCHECK: “Allow Speculative Downloading of Entire File” (may be worded differently in other Acrobat versions)
     - under internet, UNCHECK “Display PDF in Browser”
4. Bypass the PDF plugin/handler in the browser entirely (firefox: Tools/Options/Content/File Types/Select “PDF” from the list of extensions and click the “Change Action” button. Select “Open them with the Default Application”)
5. If it crashes someone’s Internet Explorer, have them switch to Firefox (and vice versa)
